Meet Mrs. Lurye
Hello! I have been teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools for more than 30 years. 2019-20 is my 21st year as part of the Bells Mill Community. My teaching experiences include high school, middle school and elementary school, and I have been a teacher specialist in the central office.
I am a native Washingtonian. My family moved to Montgomery County when I was in sixth grade. I went to Hoover Middle School (it was Junior High back then) and Winston Churchill High School. I earned my degree in Special and Elementary Education at the University of Maryland, and I am very proud that my two children graduated from Maryland, too! I earned my masters degree in Special Education from George Washington University.
When not at school, you might find me working in my garden or reading a good book. I love spending time with my family anywhere, but especially at the beach. My husband Richard is a retired criminal defense attorney and all-around good guy who enjoys photography and chess. We like rooting for the Washington Nationals! Our son, Ben is a singer and actor in the exciting Washington area theater community. Our daughter, Rebecca is a newspaper reporter in Hartford, Connecticut. I am happiest when I am enjoying my son's performances and reading my daughter's newspaper articles- what a treat!
